Background

 

Daedalus Maritime Engineering, was created as an alternative means for companies to manage marine radar, ECDIS, WECDIS and communications projects that involve installtion/commissioning, sea trials, auditing/assessing or even just to be the middle man between the company and regulatory authorities in the marine industry.

 

The idea of this company was that of one of its Director, who had the idea whilst sailing as a navigation officer that there was no company in the marine engineering market that catered for projects dealing with Radar, ECDIS/WECDIS or communications and required a company that had relevant experience as operator and as an engineer. He then came "ashore" with a wealth of knowledge in Navigation but more importantly as a system maintainer of ships navigation systems. to acheive to acheive the goal of gaining valuable commercial experience he joined BAE Systems-Marine as a Combat Systems Engineer and the projects Radiation Hazard (RADHAZ) controller for a foreign Navy ship building contract. When this project was completed he joined an international radar manufacturer as a technical Support Engineer/Trainer where he gained vital experience teaching Radar Installation/Commisioning to the company in-house field engineers, systems engineers, but also to service agents from a wealth of nationalities and also gained experience of teaching to MOD and More specifically to the Royal Navy and its support contractors to required standard.

 

After this position he then became a contractor and worked on international projects that revolved around Vessel Traffic Management Systems (VTMS) and more precisely Radar,AIS and Comms integration to the required operations software, after these projects were successfully completed ahead of schedule and under budget. He created Horizon Maritime Services Ltd with the aid of his wife as the Major Shareholder/Director, so he could concentrate on doing the engineering aspects of the business.

 

Finally, the major shareholder/director is his wife, She has many years and qualifications in business and that of customer services. And is more than willing to help any customer resolve any issues that might arise during the project. So the customer feels supported and satisfied the their needs are being met and catered for.
